History

In the post-war period the Soviet power paid much more attention to the physical and military education of students. And, strictly speaking, just Dublyany Tillage school was used as a basic for openining   in 1947 the Department of Physical Education at Lviv Agricultural Institute as a separate staff unit of the educational  establishment. Its first head was Hryhoriy Petrovych Shevchenko. Since 2008 the Department has been headed by the senior teacher Valeria Olexiyivna Tyshchenko.

Teaching

The Department of Pihysical Culture is , in fact, the all-university unit though attached to the structure of the Faculty of Land Management. It secures the physical education and sports activities the students who get qualifications in 17 specialities of all the faculties of Lviv National Agrarian University.

The Department’s teachers hold regular academic lessons with the 1^st and 2^nd year students and besides, they do extracurricular sectional and health-improving work.

According to the University Rector’s order and in accordance with the Department’s curricula of sporting and health-improving activities in the University the teachers hold various mass sporting actions (faculties competitions among the academic groups and years, knockout competitions among the 1^st year students, the Lviv Agrarian University sports and  athletics meetings in 12 kinds of sports among faculties, sports and meetings “ Zdorovja” (health) and 6 kinds of sports among teachers and workers of the university, match meetings, etc.
